NEED A PROGRAM?

Terry offers a variety of programs, with a fee structure

that depends on the size and resources of the

organization and the size of the program he's being

asked to present.. Terry is an agent with Hartline

Literary and is willing to schedule appointments in

conjunction with a meeting or conference.

Terry interfaces closely with attendees, usually

mixing and matching from his available topics to

Hey, let me tell you that Terry Burns is one heckuva speaker--he's a regular Will Rogers, ole country boy routine that really goes over with him talking about inspirational western writing. He is great and bowled them over in Branson this weekend . He really got high marks. Hats off to you pard and thanks

it fun and interesting.

If you need one and it's within the scope of what I can do I'd love to talk to you about it.

Agent Q & A

The most popular session at most conferences are the agent and

editor panels. If participants are not available Terry will do a Q & A session

honestly answering the attendee questions to the best of his ability, not

only drawing on his own knowledge and experience, but on that drawn

from hearing the responses from over 100 such conferences and such

sessions

"Pitching and working with agents."

Are you ready for an agent? How do you know? How do you get one?

What are each of our agents looking for?  How to structure a proposal.

"Too shy to pitch and promote?"

Believe it or not, Terry is very shy and introverted, but has learned how to

overcome it and present an exciting and fast-moving program. Lots of writers

are drawn to writing because they have trouble expressing themselves verbally.

Many consciously or unconsciously sabotage their own publishing efforts because

they fear they will have to do these things if they are successful. Terry shows

how to develop a public persona and hide behind it.

"So you've always wanted to write?"

Any writer doing a public event knows there will be at least one,

generally more, who will come up and say they have always wanted to write

or are writing, a book. Terry talks about how to get started, how to avoid writers

block or getting stalled out, and how to develop a story on the classic story lines.

"Getting started writing fiction"

where do story ideas come from and writing using the classic story structure.

Similar to above, but geared for a group that is already committed to trying to write.

"When a little is a lot - writing and selling short fiction."

Exploring the short fiction market, what it is, how to write for and sell to it.

"Writing for the Christian Market and getting it published"

What is the Christian fiction market today and how did it develop? How does

somebody manage to get published in that market?

Elements of Writing Workshops:

Making a Good Story Great!” -- shows writers how to heighten the necessary basics of a story to make the characters, style, and focus of their work shine and sell!

"Self-Editing Without Self-Destructing" -- a proven checklist of items to look for in any mss that have helped my clients become published.

"Synopsis Secrets"
-- tips for beefing up the synopsis without losing the marrow of a manuscript. Writers crave insight into writing a saleable synopsis. My clients have sold books on the synopses I've helped them revise.

"Writing for the Juvenile Market" -- an insider's look from someone who's had success in that area, with five books sold to major juvenile publishers, including the only authorized biography of John Grisham.

"What the Heck is POV?"
-- an easy to comprehend overview along with interactive exercises to help invigorate the emotional camera of the characters.

"Curing Purple Prose" -- how to recognize when too much fluff makes a manuscript rough and unmarketable and tips on exorcising bloated passages.

“Staying out of the Dungeon” -- even when writers start progressing in their careers it’s hard to stay focused on what really matters and to justify the time required to keep their writing a top priority.

“Non-fiction Book Proposals” -- detailed how-to workshop for putting together a book proposal that will warrant a second look from editors and agents.

“Recycle and Resell”
-- fun and informative interaction where I share some of the most common areas writers need to work on to sell their work--from narrowing a slant to broadening their perspective of networking.

Spiritual Workshops:

"Spiritual Journaling: Why 'Selfish' Is NOT A Four Letter Word" -- learn how writing tips can help you choose goals that are good for you AND the people who demand much from you.

"Don't Stress Out, Write it Out!" -- As therapists know, writing works for reducing stress and organizing thoughts. Robyn shows you how to make it a practical part of your day.

“Writer YOUR Life Story” – Journaling prompts that help you write out your own personal family history, based on her book Beyond the Branches: Writing and Scrapping Your Complete Family Tree

"The Write Way to God" -- Whether teens or seniors, those attending this workshop will learn a closer relationship to God is only a pad and pen away.
